The difference between high-frequency board and high-speed board of PCB circuit board

 

PCB circuit board is an indispensable and important part of electronic products. Different application scenarios require different types of PCB circuit boards. High-frequency board and high-speed board are two special PCB circuit boards, each of which has unique application scenarios and advantages.

1. Definition and characteristics

High-frequency board:

Application areas: radio communication, radar, satellite communication, etc.

Working frequency: usually more than 500MHz.

Board thickness: thinner.

Line width and line spacing: finer than ordinary PCB circuit boards.

Dielectric constant: small to reduce signal loss, improve signal transmission rate and receiving sensitivity.

Common materials: RO4350B, RO4003C, F4B, etc.

 

High-speed board:

Application areas: computer motherboards, industrial computers, measurement and control instruments, etc.

Working frequency: The modulation and demodulation frequency is low, but the rate is high, usually at the Gbps level.

Board thickness: thicker to effectively suppress EMI (electromagnetic interference).

Line width and line spacing: The line is of good equilongation, and the line width and line spacing can be appropriately increased.

Common materials: FR4, PI, etc.

 

2. Main differences

Frequency range:

High frequency board: The operating frequency exceeds 500MHz.

High speed board: The modulation and demodulation frequency is from tens of MHz to GHz level.

Line width and board thickness:

High frequency board: The line width and line spacing are finer, and the board thickness is thinner.

High speed board: The line width and line spacing can be appropriately increased, and the board thickness is thicker.

Material:

High frequency board: Common materials such as RO4350B, RO4003C, F4B, etc. have a small dielectric constant.

High speed board: Common materials such as FR4, PI, etc., are usually better than general PCB circuit boards, such as FR4 high TG materials.
